Welcome to November everyone! So now that October is over, it’s time for another monthly movies. This month only has a couple of movies. I think my peak of movie watching is during the summer when I have nothing to do or worry about procrastinating. Alrighty, let’s do it!
So, after hearing a lot of praise for this TV show I decided to attempt to watch it and was completely unimpressed with it after the first 3 episodes. I actually wanted to stop watching after the first episode, but I thought maybe it could redeem itself. I found the main character way too arrogant, so much so that it was cheesy and cringey. The main backstory wasn’t established enough so I just thought this random guy was able to shoot arrows and whoopdy doo right. So yeah, I really didn’t like this show.
And now onto something that I did like! In the spirit of Halloween, and the release of the new modern version that had just premiered, I watched the 1976 version of Carrie. The story was a bit strange at first and I really didn’t know what it was getting at, but it was so worth it because of the ending. No spoilers, but it’s so good. The movie isn’t too long (a lot shorter than I expected actually), and the effects aren’t amazing considering that it was made about 40 years ago. It’s worth watching ^-^
Now Gravity is such a big thing because of its special effects and all, and it really is. The story is pretty crappy to be honest, but just go for the eye entertainment because it really is just pretty. Yeah okay, Sandra Bullock kind of wailed half the time but you would too if you were stuck in space. Not much else to say really - it’s just pretty.
House of Cards
House of Cards was nominated for a lot of awards in the Emmys this year and it was one of the few shows I hadn’t seen yet, so I gave it a try. I’m quite neutral with this show. I’m not too into politics or anything, but it is an interesting drama show. It was a little bit boring for me so I stopped about halfway through its first and only season. The characters are interesting and I appreciate the storyline, although I just don’t think that it’s really my ‘thing’.
I went on a Hannibal movie marathon a few weeks ago, and Red Dragon replaced Silence of the Lambs as being my favourite Hannibal. I thought the story was great and the way that the main character, a detective (played by Edward Norton hdkghjega, Fight Club feels), found out things about the Dragon guy. But yeah, lots of people I liked in this movie - Edward Norton, Anthony Hopkins and Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort)! I think it’s in my top 20 movies or so now.
Crazy Stupid Love
Okay, I had never seen Crazy Stupid Love until now and there are gifs of it every where on tumblr and it’s like a staple chick flick movie that every one has to see. And I agree. It was really good and such a chill movie to watch when you’re bored or something. Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling though<3 Yeah it’s just an overall good movie. Any movie with Emma Stone is good to be honest.
Thor: The Dark World
I watched this in November but shush, I want to rave about it because oh my god I loved it. Loki was my favourite but there were so many good elements in this movie - the villain, Frigga and even Jane Foster wasn’t too useless in this one! So many good things to mention, but by then I would be spoiling everything. It is a really good superhero movie, which isn’t all that rare, but I think this was better than the first Thor - which is rare for sequels.
Cool! That’s October done, and it won’t be too long before Monthly Movies: November edition because these months seem to be passing by way too quickly.
Hi! It’s been a while. I feel like I keep starting off my extremely rare posts like this, and I’m seriously sorry. Let’s start off with the fact that its October! Or, the very end of October really.
Alrighty, so this month: let’s begin with my birthday! This year I finally turned 15. Like, legit I’m one of the last people in the grade to turn 15 but HAH I’m there now.
But soon everyone will be 16 and I’ll be 15 and it’ll be the same thing all over again ugh. The day began with this pleasant message:
So yeah, my friends got me super cool presents, like a t-shirt with a TARGARYEN SIGIL OMG IT’S SO COOL and one of those professional looking makeup boxes that when you open it, there are little drawers that fold out and its super cute and organised. My present from my parents is on its way now because I asked for some sort of eyeshadow palette and I’m getting THE NAKED 2 PALETTE. I’m so excited because the Naked Palette is just so good and oh my god all the reviews say it’s perfect and yeah. I really wanted it and now I’m getting it! AKJGHA. Rightyo, so to celebrate I just went to dinner at Union and that was cool. Here’s a super duper cheesy photo that we took:
In other news, Supernatural came back (!) and American Horror Story: Coven started and now I’m obsessed
And one more update-y kind of thing: I was happy with my makeup today.
What I was actually here to talk about was Halloween! Halloween’s coming up really soon (as is my mum’s birthday) and recently I’ve been looking into different costumes and things, even though I won’t be celebrating the festive day. I like looking, but not actually doing you know what I mean? Anywho, if you’re into celebrating Halloween, I’ve got two ideas for you!
If you’re going for a creepy type costume, I suggest the creepy white lady from the American Horror Story: Asylum adverts -
because yeah, it looks pretty cool and you could easily create the effect of the black dripping from the eyes by using liquid eyeliner!
If I was to actually try and dress up for Halloween, I would definitely dress up as Princess Mononoke from the Studio Ghibli film-
I was searching through Pinterest and I discovered someone who had cosplayed this character and it looks so good!
So yeah other ideas would be the Khaleesi, from Game of Thrones because amazing hair that you can do and the costume might be hard to assemble, but you could probably just search up people who have cosplayed her at Comic-Con or something!
So yeah, hope this kind of helped? and have a Happy Halloween!
Monthly Movies will be up in a couple of days ^-^
September’s coming to a close (finally) and it’s time for a monthly movies summary - disorganised thoughts about the movies that I’ve watched this month!
Can I just say that this is the most creative title for a movie. Okay, so anyways this was actually one of the very few action movies that I tolerate. Halle Berry stars as a 911 call operator who gets a call from a girl that’s just been kidnapped, and basically the entire movie is her trying to save this girl from dying. Now, I’m just saying, but the BAU from Criminal Minds could solve this so much faster than she did. But yeah, I liked the pace of this movie and there weren’t too many boring/quiet parts so overall, pretty good!
Dwayne Johnson is a huge dude. This one’s about a dad, whose son gets been framed and arrested for transporting drugs. The dad tries to catch the guys that have framed him by.. transporting drugs. It’s a whole big mess, but I didn’t really like this movie. I just don’t think it was my taste, but it wasn’t too bad if you like action movies.
Waiting For Superman
This documentary/movie was recommended by Oprah like, 3 years ago. To be completely honest, I found it to be pretty boring because it was basically a guy that was advertising and campaigning how good his school was compared to others. So if you wish to be lectured about horrible schools in the Bronx, this movie is for you.
There was somuch hype for this movie and I went to see it with friends. I was pretty excited to see it but it was kind of a let down. In total there was probably about 3 jumpscares, and only one that legit scared me. Although, I really liked the exorcism scene because whoa that was pretty cool when she was on the roof and that maniacal laughter was just. Yeah, I think it’s kind of worth watching :/
To be honest, with Oblivion I wasn’t exactly paying attention because well, it’s just another Tom Cruise movie right?
The Great Gatsby
This movie. Just omg the costumes were so perfect and I really loved it overall, except the cinematography. I swear to god, I just could not. The camera would just keep moving, even when they were talking and just - no. Camera, pls stay still. Other than that, everything was so so good ^_^
Orange is the New Black
Woo, started this new Netflix show, and I quite like it. Essentially, it’s about this woman who goes to jail for carrying drugs for her then girlfriend. In jail, she meets all of these other women who have their own separate stories and unique personalities. Different occurrences happen and they all have to deal with the consequences and such. I do like it because it’s something different, although the characters are kind of bitchy and I wasn’t to certain of it when I started. However, by the end of the season, I did come to like it, and I do recommend it!
Cool, so that’s all of them and I’ll see you next month for more movies ~ uwu
All day I’ve been trying to figure out what I should post here, because I haven’t posted in a long time, and I was thinking that I should do something different, and you know - organised (like my makeup tutorial). However, today is Saturday and I’m completely out of it so I’m just going to word vomit all over this place.
Since the last time you’ve been on this blog, it would’ve probably looked different. I’ve completely redone this blog - new theme, new categories and a new url. You can still access this blog by typing in ‘sirwelcometothegrave.tumblr.com’, or my new url ‘jojobean.co.vu’.
The new theme is a little bit of a change - I grew tired of the other pink one, and woo the sidebar images flip over and stuff. It’s pretty cool. The credit to the theme maker is in the lower right corner, so if you have a tumblr, you should go check out her themes because they are awesome.
Right then, so let’s begin the word vomit. It’s September 2013 already. And, I’ve just realised that I missed my one year anniversary for this blog (1st September). Well that is just brilliant, but hey - I still have this blog and I’m still trying to keep it going. So okay, 1 YEAR (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧
My birthday is in 10 days, how exciting! I’ll be one of the last people in the year turning 15, some people are even turning 16. I’m like, the baby of the year.
The last month or so has been pretty hectic, and I really don’t enjoy being stressed, resulting in me procrastinating everything. Although I have been trying harder to finish assignments and homework and such, I’m still not doing much better than last year - something that I had promised I would try to do. There is so much more work this year and stuff to remember my brain hurts. Also, classes this year are absolutely horrible. Well, for me anyways. I’m quite sure that I don’t ever have a class that I look forward to going to.
For starters, my old business teacher (who was literally the best teacher ever, jesus christ please come back) left and has been replaced by a boring and dull teacher that I can’t stand. We spent 6 lessons learning about break even point, which is one of the simplest things to understand, to be honest.
Or maybe it’s just that my business class is full of idiots and can’t even grasp a simple concept. We actually learnt break even point last year, so we were supposed already know what it was, and now we’re doing more finance stuff, and I really have no idea what the hell he’s going on about in class. I’m so confused and he doesn’t explain anything well. I’m going to fail this exam.
However, there is one beacon of hope - biology class. Again, our old teacher left, new one came in but this teacher, dear god. HER NOTES ARE GLORIOUS. She takes notes like I do - colour coding and indented paragraphs and jesus christ she’s so neat and I love it. In the very few lessons that we’ve had, I’ve learnt more than in all of year 10. I’m fo reals here.
Those are my main complaints/compliments about classes this year - everything else is just boring and I wish to shoot myself every lesson.
Also on the agenda is choosing IB subjects! We have to decide the classes that most fit what kind of course we want to take in university. Now, who the hell has decided what career they want. Besides some completely driven students that have already planned out their lives (or their parents have planned it for them), no body knows what they want to do when they’re older. I’m so confused and I have no idea what subjects I want to take, or which ones I want to take at a standard or higher level. I have no idea.
Can you feel my stress. It’s like it’s radiating through this post I swear. Basically, what I’m trying to say, is that I hate school and I have no idea what I want to do in life. My mind is going to implode.
Hmm, let’s see other things to rant about. I’ll give you options, depending on what you want to read about:
So click on one (or more if you wish) of those links to read about whatever I have to say about it. Essentially - you have to read about my school woes, but you have the choice to read about the other 5.
Oh hey, it’s been a while. Since my last post, I have started school and YEAR 11. It sounds so intimidating and teachers never fail to remind us that our exams are coming up in two terms and that we have LOTS of homework and studying to do. Thanks, teachers.
It’s almost the end of the first ‘full’ week - we started on Wednesday of last week - and I’m already so tired, like you wouldn’t believe. I’ve been going at 10PM each night almost. If I was fully functional, I’d be laughing because that is just pitiful. Where is the night blogging spirit?
The reason I’m posting this is because I’m actually planning something really big. For now, it’s a secret because I’ve only barely started planning everything and I don’t think I’m anywhere near starting to actually do anything. This ‘project’ may be done in a few months. The fact that it may take forever to do this kind of upsets me but I’m SO excited nonetheless. So yeah, don’t expect any news of the project being finished anytime soon, but hey, I’m just notifying you!
I may be super busy and may not be able to update here as often as I would like - I feel like I should actually try this year - so I’m really sorry! However, I’ve decided to make the movie update thingo a monthly thing, posting a similar sort of list/review type shindig like my previous post, so look forward to that at the end of each month!
Updates in pictures:
I just really love Breaking Bad guys
lul outfit of the day
we had a pizza party at Suen’s. they were really good btw even though we used ketchup for the tomato base and a crapload of cheese. don’t tell us how to live our lives.
and we also made a giant cookie, and yes it was deliciously fattening.
so I decided to make a cake one day, and the egg whites were so fluffy aklgaei
and this is how it turned out yo, not too bad if I say so myself. That is nutella by the way.
aand this was the inside ;u;
sticking with the cooking theme, I made falafels and they were SO good omg
my name written in Elvish by Alicia!
and saving the best for last,
the reunion of me and my beautiful Mac
until next time!
lol hi everyone. I don’t have much of an idea of what to write about, although I was requested to update here, so here are the movies/TV shows I’ve been watching since the beginning of summer. (maybe I should make this a monthly thing?)
Let’s start with TV shows:
Holy crap, I’m in love with Breaking Bad (especially Jesse), but yeah this show is SO GOOD. I’m midway through the third season but the second half of the fifth season starts up really soon for the end O_O I’m super upset that it’s gonna be over but I still have lots to watch (woo!).
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
I finally started watching Buffy! It’s been on my “to watch” list forever, and I’ve finally gotten up to it, although I’ve only gone through a couple of episodes as I’ve been busy with Breaking Bad, but so far so good.
okay that’s pretty much it for TV shows, so onto movies:
Lol I was super late to watch this movie becauseI completely missed it when it was in the cinemas, although I gotta say, it was okay. Dave Franco did not have to die.
Oh my god, this movie was actually really good and I liked it, but there was some realllyyyyy lame dialogue in there. Like, holy moly, they needed to pay more attention to that, but omg the Kaijus and giant robots was just :D
The Hangover III
This was just - oh god, just NO.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Yeah, okay this was a really teen-y movie, like The Breakfast Club, but ehh. I guess I like TBC more.
A Beautiful Mind
And here’s another movie that’s been on my list for ages, and wow this movie was really long, and I wasn’t expecting it to be although, the story was interesting and the ending was satisfactory. Yeah idk what else to say.
I actually didn’t mind The Wolverine, because I always thought he was a cool superhero. Not too bad, and sidenote - the city scene (around the part with the train) was filmed in Sydney, lol. The only thing that bothered me was *spoiler* everyone was the bad guy. Like, legit everyone that wasn’t Logan and the two main girls were bad guys. When you found out about another bad person, you were just kind of like, ughhh. Also, yeah Logan, if you could not kiss that girl when you keep having repetitive dreams about your dead girlfriend, Jean, that you were totally in love with, that’d be great.
Okay, I usually like weird movies that make you think and stuff but I think this was one of the movies that was like, ‘2weird4u’ because I didn’t really like it. It was just really weird.
Killing Them Softly
Uhh, this movie, idk it was okay I suppose. It didn’t have a truly memorable storyline because I vaguely remember what it was about. The one thing I do remember well is a horrible scene where they beat up this guys and yeah - one thing you should know is that I cannot stand watching fist fights in movies. Like, I can watch sword fights, gun fights, magic fights, whatever the hell else, but jesus christ no fist fights. Watching Fight Club was hard at times. But yeah, this movie, that scene, just ugh. Also, Brad Pitt’s hair was pretty cringe-y. Tyler Durden hair plz.
Haha I wasn’t expecting to really like this movie, because it wasn’t too popular but it had Colin Firth, Alan Rickman, and Cameron Diaz. The plot was humerous and holy moly I really liked Alan Rickman’s character. So sassy.
I’ve seen a lot of Tom Cruise movies, but this wasn’t his best. It wasn’t bad, but it could’ve been better and less cheesy. Tom Cruise’s character could’ve been less of an arrogant and douchey spy person but yeah. Okay that’s all I have to say.
Fast & Furious 6
Lol I actually haven’t seen all of the previous F&F movies. The only other one that I saw was Tokyo Drift, but to watch the sixth movie, you didn’t really have to watch the previous ones so it was alright. I quite liked it, but I felt really sorry for the cars. So much money wasted.
Dead Man Down
Action movies have never really been my thing, but I’ve been watching all these movies with my parents and they love action. This one was especially hard to watch because it was so god damn slow. Interaction between the girl and the main character were just so painful to watch. Neither of their characters were talkative and they were awkward and they talked to slow. It was so annoying and I was almost gonna walk out but the story was quite interesting so I had to suffer through those terribly painful scenes that lasted for 1390538971 years. I am not watching this one again.
Well hey, that concludes the list of movies and TV shows I’ve been watching and my horrible complaints I have about them. Inflicting my opinions is always fun, so maybe I will do this more often (if you want me to, just like talk to me or something, I’m good with that)! Anywho, that’s all for now, so I’ll talk to you later ^_^
Hey guys! It’s been quite a while since I’ve talked to you all and I thought I should do something different as I approach my 10 month blogaversary! So here, I present to you a sort of tutorial of my makeup that I usually wear when going out. I hope you like it! ^_^
Oh crap bare face on the internet. I’m starting to rethink posting this but here ya go. So starting with a bare face I use toner to get rid of excess oil.
I bought a lot of new products when we went to Korea (cause Korea is where all the cosmetics are at), and so next I use what’s called a ‘pore eraser’, which is like a gel that fills your pores so they aren’t visible. (A list of products will be at the bottom of this post)
This foundation I use is actually a BB cream by Missha which is actually supposed to be for wrinkles but I love it because it provides lots of coverage for all those ugly spots -__- I use this sponge to apply the foundation.
And apply powder to set the base!
I use the third colour on this palette and an off-white Mac eyeshadow (the label actual faded so I don’t know it’s name!) for a sort of ‘natural’ colour ^_^
I apply eyeliner with a wing, and then mascara.
After eye make-up, it’s time for blush!
and then suck in those cheeks for some bronzer and highlight :)
This is my favourite lipstick right now because I’m in LOVE with the colour <3
and here’s the finished look! This usually takes about 5-10 minutes, so its super easy :D
oh, and because I liked my hair today:
aand a couple more shots:
Here are all the products that I used;
Thank you so much for reading, I really hoped you liked this post. It was something different that I wanted to try out and it was super fun to make! That’s all for now so I’ll talk to you guys soon ^_^
Castiel-inspired winged eyeliner! ^_^
Hey everyone ! I’ve returned from my trip to Korea and now its time to update and post photos.
We spent 10 days in Seoul shopping and visiting tourist-y places and being foreigners, and then flew to Jeju island for 3 days, before flying to Jakarta.
Anyways, I’ve created a “photographic walkthrough” of our trip so scroll down and look through the pictures !
Also, welcome back to more frequent updates on this blog ^_^
Reunion with my sister !
Fair warning that there will be very many food pictures, so yeah.
Lol there were protesters so all the police started coming in and surrounding them.
This was the magnificent view into North Korea. It was a little foggy.
We made a new soldier friend - Patrick !
We took selfies with him ^_^
This is was in one of the North Korean infiltration tunnels - we weren’t actually allowed to take pictures but OH WELL.
At our good friend’s restaurant ~ more food pictures ahead !
I’m not entirely sure that we had this lunch on this day, but hey - more food pictures ~
